Visionaries, Mystics and Stigmatists

My brothers and sisters in Christ, we are at a pivotal pointin our Church and our world. We are approaching the thirdmillennium, the twenty-first century, and we need help. Theworld has gotten away from us; we don’t know how to handle it.In every country we visit, we see a resurgence of tradition andvalues. We’ve been on a roller-coaster plummeting downward,completely out of control. We have called a halt! People wantto go back to all they cherished and somehow lost through thedeadly influence of the secular Media. In our country in particular,we see a return to this healthy traditional trend strongly in books,films and merchandise. We want our country back, the landfounded under God. We want our freedoms, guaranteed underour Constitution and Bill of Rights, back. We are sending out amessage, loud and strong! We are no longer the silent minority;we are the vocal majority.

We need our Holy Family; we need Mama Mary. The familyof God is fragmented, divided by the enemy. Mama! Wheneverwe have been in trouble we have called on our earthly mothersor our Heavenly Mother. It’s time for Mother Mary. We have agreat urgency to know our Heavenly Family hears us; we wantto hear them. We need Signs and Wonders. We are rushing fromone reported visionary or mystic or inner Locutionary to the Visionaries, Mystics and Stigmatists.next, trying desperately to grab onto Our Lord Jesus, Our Lady,the Angels and Saints. We want to see them, even if in a haze, atranslucent presence, something. We want a whisper, a breeze,a word, anything. And in the midst of all this, Bob and Pennybring you a book on Visionaries, Mystics, and Stigmatists.Why do we need another book on Visionaries, Mystics, andStigmatists? One very important reason is, we feel an urgency toshare with you some of the Blesseds and Saints whose messageshave been affirmed by Mother Church as coming to the Faithfulthrough Divine intervention. The Visionaries, Mystics andStigmatists we will be presenting to you have passed the test oftime; much of what they have prophesied has been fulfilled oris coming to pass. A more important reason for this book is a danger to whichwe the people of God have been exposed. We are in the days ofmany alleged Visionaries, Mystics and Stigmatists. We cannotgo to a church, a village, or a city that we are not asked to visitthis local Mystic, or someone does not have a message for usfrom that Visionary. We are not saying that Our Lord and OurLady are not appearing and speaking to Their children; the direcondition of our Church and of the world would most certainlyprompt Them to do so. But holy prudence would dictate wecarefully wait upon the word of the Church. What are we to do? What and whom are we to believe? Inmany instances there are Signs and Wonders, even Miracles thatare hard to ignore. This gives us even more reason to be prudentin whom and what we believe. We are in serious times, veryserious times! Our Lord, in His Word warns us:“...there will be great tribulation, such as has not beenfrom the beginning of the world until now, no and neverwill be. And if those days had not been shortened, nohuman being would be saved; but for the sake of the electthose days will be shortened. Then if anyone says to you‘Lo here is the Christ!’ or ‘There He is!’ do not believe it.For false Christs and false prophets will arise and showgreat signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible,even the elect.” (Matt 24:24, Mark 13:22) Our Church is being torn asunder by two forces: One isobvious in that it is spawning a heresy encompassing manyseriously destructive heresies from the past, which Mother Churchdispelled through her Popes and Bishops calling Councils downthrough the centuries. But sadly they’re back, and they are nowcollectively attacking all we hold dear. This force is dangerousbecause often what is being taught is so close to what we havelearned in the past, almost a mirror image. This has always beenthe work of the enemy, taking the Truth and distorting it for thedemise of the Church he so fiercely hates. Down through thecenturies, we have not realized these are errors and we havebeen led astray. Another subtle but no less deadly action of thisforce is the intentional manipulation and elimination of parts ofthe Bible, thereby changing its meaning. The most apparent ofthis trend is the attempt by an influential minority to rewrite theBible, using inclusive language. One of the reasons there are somany splinters of the True Cross is due to the first changing andelimination of parts of the Bible by Martin Luther, a former priest.Another focus of this destructive movement, sometimescomposed of forces within our Church, is the blatant fostering ofdisobedience to the Pope by word and example and the ridiculingof the Magisterium (the teaching authority of the Church - SeeCatholic Catechism # 889-892). This force, by its dissent and disobedience to the Pope, whose authority was given to himand all our Popes by Jesus Himself, leads to confusion anddivision. “A house divided against itself will fall and crumble.”In every house there is a father, a head, an authority whom theother members of the family obey. Even Martin Luther wroteof the wisdom of Jesus to leave us a father in our Pope whomthe members of The Mystical Body of Christ obey and follow,to whom all obedience and allegiance we must render. Was theLord speaking of this time? “There were also false prophets among the people, just asthere will be false teachers among you, who will introducedestructive heresies and even deny the Master Whoransomed them, bringing swift destruction on themselves.”(2 Peter 2) Some know the enemy on the far left side of our path to theKingdom. But there can be an even more perilous force attackingthe Church by those who appear to love Mother Church. Nowwe’re not saying that they are necessarily, knowingly, deceivingthe Faithful. Possibly, some of these alleged Mystics, Seers andVisionaries really believe they are seeing the Mother of God orare receiving inner locutions. Have they, perhaps, been temptedby the enemy? Did he promise them fame if they would use thissure-fire attention-getter which would draw tens of thousandsof innocent people, seeking Our Lord and Our Mother in thistroubled world, to come to them, and use them erroneously asspiritual fortune-tellers? Another great fear is that this can lead toconfusion among the Faithful and an eventual attack on MotherMary and apparitions accepted by the Church. Mother Mary came and brought warnings to her children.Some alleged visionaries are claiming they are receiving messagesthat closely resemble those of accepted visionaries of the past.We have to beware; remember Satan is the great copycat withnot an original idea. Will important messages left by MotherMary become a mockery, if and when the revelations of theseself-proclaimed present day prophets are judged human and notDivine? Our Lord is speaking to us through His Word, as we read:“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’sclothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves” (Matt. 7:15) The saddest problem we have is, if someone today was reallyreceiving messages from Mother Mary and Jesus, would webelieve them? We must depend on the wisdom and timetable ofMother Church. With this book, we will try to help you discern,through the words, lives and examples of the Visionaries, Mysticsand Stigmatists, who have been accepted by Mother Church, whoto believe and what to believe, that you will not fall victim to the... “Many false prophets (who) will arise and deceive many;” (Matt 24:11) How will we know who are authentic and who have agendas of their own? With these prophets we write about, you will hear faithfulness to the Word of God and to the Magisterium. You will see them point to Our Lord and His Mother, not to themselves, often reluctantly writing of their revelations only out of obedience to their Spiritual Directors, always seeking anonymity.

As an example, Saint Mary Alacoque and Saint Catherine Labouré were Visionaries whose holy experiences were virtually unknown to those around them, with the exception of their Spiritual Directors or Superiors who ordered them to write them down. You will see obedience to their immediate Superiors, Spiritual Directors, Bishops, and to Mother Church. What are we trying to do with this book? We want to give you a definition of a Mystic, a Visionary, a Stigmatist, a Locutionary, anyone who has had a very special relationship with Jesus and Mary, not from Webster’s dictionary, or from the Catholic Encyclopedia, but from how they lived their lives. You will never hear them promoting themselves. You will never hear them using the “I” word. If anything, they will always take the attention away from themselves and focus it in on Jesus. This may be the whole reason why the Lord wanted us to write this book, so that you, the people of God, will be able to discern what is a true Mystic, what is a true Visionary, what is a true Stigmatist, from those who are claiming to be. We hope to give you a basis for comparison. When Padre Pio1 was given the gift of the Stigmata, he begged Our Lord Jesus to take it away, and the Lord gave him an Invisible Stigmata, in which Padre Pio suffered all the pains of the wounds of Christ, without actually showing the outward signs. This went on for ten years, until the Lord decided it was time for Padre Pio to be a visible sign. What is the point here? What are we trying to tell you? These are important times in the battle for our Church. The Lord is sending powerful messages to us through His people. But the messages can be blocked and discredited by false prophets, and possibly even good people who have too much of a need to be known, recognized and adulated, who are willing to sell their souls for the attention that is given to Visionaries, Mystics and Stigmatists. In order for you to be able to hear and act on the word of the Lord, the din, the great roar of noise emanating from the world and from all those who would give you misinformation, has to be recognized and muffled. We pray that by sharing with you these brothers and sisters who have passed the test of time and been given the approval of the Church, you will be able to discern the real from the false. Finally and most importantly, pray to our Heavenly Family for guidance. We love you!
